Going out this New Year's Eve?

Burglars don’t care what day it is.

More than 50% of the UK will be heading off out away from home to welcome in the New Year.

Unfortunately, opportunist burglars will still be on the lookout for empty homes. A few simple steps before you leave can make a huge difference:

Lock up properly – doors, windows, garages, sheds.

Make your home look occupied – leave a light on or use a timer.

Set your house alarm – every time, no exceptions.

Leaving a nice car on the drive? Keep keys well hidden and out of sight.

Leave Alexa or a radio on – even better, play a podcast or talk show so it sounds like people are inside. 

Remove obvious deliveries – don’t advertise an empty house.

CCTV & smart doorbells – check they’re working and recording.

Let a trusted neighbour know you’re out, especially if you’ll be late.

It only takes a minute to reduce your risk massively.

Let’s start the New Year safe, secure, and one step ahead of the criminals.

Don’t make it easy for them.
